Since late 2020 all versions of Windows are installed with an annoying area of the taskbar called "News and Interests". When you hover over that area you get a big pop-up in the middle of your screen full of generic news like this:
To make that go away and never pop up again follow these steps:
- Right click on the weather icon in the taskbar
- Under "News and Interests" uncheck "open on hover"
- Rejoice!
